PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He lived a sinless life, was crucified
and died, nailed to the cross and took upon Himself our sins. His blood was shed to
wash away all our sins. The grave could not hold him, he arose from the grave and
lives forevermore. Because he livees, we to can live now and for all eternity.
I believe in a personal relationship with him, one that is closer than a brother. We
share a very close relationship with our family, because of our relationship to God.
Blessed be the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
PERSONAL LIFE
I first accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was about fourteen years
of age. I had many opportunities to serve Him in my younger years. At around ten to
twelve years old I was teaching lessons in our church endeavor classes. Also about
the same time I started making fudge. I felt God's call into the ministry when I was
about thirty seven years old.
Thressa and I have been married for thirty six years now, and have seven children
among us. We lost our daughter, Linda, to cancer in 1991. God has given us many
grand children and many more great-grand children.
We have had many opportunities to minister to various ways through the years. We
taught the Bethel Bible Series, and taught a Sunday School most of our lives. God has
been faithful to us, and trust He has been pleased as we have served Him.
POSITION IN THE CHURCH
I believe in the power of prayer, a communion with the heavenly Father as we talk with
Him, and as we listen we also can hear from Him. I thank God for answered prayers.
I believe He still performs miracles. His grace is sufficient. Things I'm working on in my
walk with God is learning how to pray, living a surrendered life to Him and being a good
husband. I'm of the old school of thought, and I believe that the values we share as a
Christian are caught as well as taught. |

PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY
We have all heard the saying,’people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.’ I have tried to minister with this concept in mind. Ministry is about influencing people to come to Christ by showing His love and care through our own words and deeds. Jesus told His disciples {John 13:35} “Everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another’, the Apostle Paul said, {Cor. 9:22} “I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.” My prayer is that everyone who comes into our fellowship will sense the overwhelming love of Jesus and the warmth of our friendship.
PERSONAL LIFE
I accepted Jesus as a young boy and was fortunate to grow up in a God-fearing, loving Jesus family. My father and sister are already home with the Lord, leaving my mother and me to finish the course. At the age of 30, I attended Olivet Nazarene University and began the ministerial journey which first led me to serve as an associate in Indiana and New Jersey. For the last 27+ yrs. I have been in pastoral ministry in Pennsylvania, Illinois and currently in the beautiful state of Michigan since 2000 with incredibly wonderful folks,-just like you! I am the husband of a wonderful wife, Sherry, and the father of three great kids! Kris, Angi, Chad, and their spouses have made us the world’s most fortunate parents by blessing us with twelve beautiful grandchildren! I sure wish I had the time to share some great stories about them with you.
POSITION IN CHURCH
As senior pastor of Hastings Nazarene, it is my desire to continue to be teachable and to meet the challenges of a growing congregation. Our main focus as a pastoral couple has been to join Jesus where He is at work. We serve with a passionate, creative staff who have readily joined in the sufferings and joys of following Jesus in the ministry. Their commitment is proof of the saying; “give a man a fish and you feed him for one day, teach him to fish and you feed him for lifetime”, we are co-fisherman! The great commission is not fulfilled by just telling someone about Jesus, but by living it out in our daily encounters and relationships. |
